Helga Tells How Edward and I Became Lovers During The Great War

Edward did not seem to know what to do when he found me instead of Dora in his cot. He looked at me in horror, but I laughed at him. He ordered me out of his tent as an imposter. But I returned again a couple of nights later. I lay naked on his cot waiting for him. When he found me there he yelled at me, but I giggled and stayed just where I was. When he attempted to throw me out again, I entwined my arms about his waist and rubbed my arms up and down his back. I undid his belt, for I was very practiced in such arts. I rubbed my belly against his, doing a sort of belly dance in the nude.Maybe he was lonely for Dora. I think he was just lonely for female flesh, which he had not tasted in a couple of  years of the Great War and the Arab Revolt. But he pulled me against him and made love to me again.
After I had come to him several more times with the same results, I told him what I knew about Asalah and his father, Sir Adolphus, which I had learned from Mohamed and Prince Ali. I told him I had learned the story on the caravan route. I asked if he would take me back to England with him and install me in a townhouse like her. He looked at me as if I were crazy, but I persisted. I pretended to weep and say that if he didn't take me, at least he could marry me in a Middle Eastern ceremony. That way if I had a child, it would not look so bad. And it would console me.
At first he thought this suggestion even more outrageous. But eventually I lured him into it by assuring him that such a ceremony would not be legal in England.
If you want to hear more about Edward and me when he was riding with Lawrence of Arabia, I will tell you tomorrow. I invite Lady Ware to read what I have to say also. I am sure she would find it very edifying. After all, Leopold didn't spring from an immaculate conception, did he? Everybody admits that he is my son and Edward's. I don't know how Dora can think that I first met Edward when he was brought to me as a captive to torture. I knew him long before that --- years, in fact.
